The Seven Churches of the Revelation

Jesus revealed many things to John when He called John up.  There are seven specific local churches mentioned.  We know that the number seven has a significance in Hebrew culture.  It may be that Jesus was using the seven to explain the limitations that the church at large has in the world.  We can understand that we are limited in this world yet through the awareness of our weakness and acknowledgement of our need for Jesus, we can be made into what He wants for His bride.
